Changes to the way we access Accident & Emergency
To ensure that everyone recieves the right care, in the right place, at the right time NHS Fife are changing the way people access A&E services.
A&E will remain open to those who have a life threatening emergency. Anyone who would normally attend A&E with a non life threatening condition should telephone NHS24 111 in the first instance to be directed to the appropriate service. This will ensure patients have the fastest access to treatment. NHS24 are available 24hours a day to take these calls.
Anyone with any of the following life threatening emergencies should continue to attend A&E or call 999.
- Suspected heart attack or Stroke
- Severe breathing difficulties
- Severe bleeding or injury
